Recently, I bummed onto someone near school. Don't think I want to mention who. He gave me a lift to Ubi from Clementi which I think was very kind of him. He just went through a divorce 5 yrs back and I have not met him since then. He is currently married with 4 kids. 3 of them from his current wife previous marriage. He used to be a vegetarian but now he is not after the divorce. It kind of struck me! The test that god made us go through to test our faith in him. Some times, I just wondered, if he had been truthful and know the real meaning behind being a vegetarian, he would have persisted and continued being a vegetarian. But then again, you would never know until you have been tested out. And I think that support from family and friends are very important for someone to pull through this ordeal.
Having said that, cultivation and consistently contributing to the religion is also very important to constantly remind ourselves that we are god's child and we have to believe and trust god no matter what happens. And it also serves as a reminder to all that no matter how busy you are, you must always make time for the spiritual need. And whatever actions that you take or whatever decisions that you make have an impact on others as well. Apparently after he started eating meat, his dad had stroke and was paralyzed from the waist down there after. It is kind of sad to hear this but sometimes, its god's will. Be appreciative if what you have now. Don't take things for granted!
